Refreshing the style and specification of an old favourite makes the latest Matrix as new as the morning. The revised frontal treatment, which aligns it with other members of the Hyundai line-up, is effective shorthand for quality, reliability, practicality and safety. None of the flexibility and frugality that made the old model so popular with young families has been lost, though. It’s time for maximum Matrix fun.
Additional trunk space or extra knee room is available thanks to new seat rails that give the rear seats 195mm of fore and aft movement (right). The system is part of a clever package that produces flexible interior space.
The high roof and short wheelbase generate more upright seating positions than a regular car, with the resulting extra headroom giving occupants easier access and exit. The raised rear seats also provide those in the back with good forward vision.
Rear seats that divide 60/40, recline, slide, fold and double-fold give a tremendous variety of luggage and passenger combinations.
