The first thing you’ll notice about the i40 is its front lighting
group: eagle-eye head lamps and wing-shaped fog lamps.
A nature-inspired organic design combines a sporty style
and sleek profile for a charismatic effect.

HID head lamps that illuminate like dayThe i40 can be ordered with High Intensity Discharge (Xenon), the
premium lighting technology specified by all luxury automobile
manufacturers. Optional HID headlamps can bring out details
conventional headlamps cannot. The light beam is also brighter and
longer, without glares, and with a color temperature that closely
approximates that of daylight. This means reds are red and greens are
green. Highly distinctive LED position lamps are supplied as the
standard, offering their signature high visibility.

elongated greenhouse, the i40 boasts a European

Quick & bright LED-type rear combination lampsLarge, wraparound rear combination lamps are handsomely sculpted and use an LED array for maximum brightness and enhanced safety. By lighting up a split second faster than conventional lamps, they alert the following driver sooner.

Aerodynamically sculpted housing minimises wind noise and includes an LED side repeater to promote safer lane changes.
Fog lamps
Optional front fog lamps feature clear lenses and an extra low mounting point for maximum penetration in foggy driving conditions.

Set the electrically controlled driver’s seat the way you like it – you can adjust it in 10 directions - and let the Integrated Memory Seat do the rest. The new and highly fuel efficient Nu 2.0 features allaluminum ladder frame construction for improved durability and reduced noise and vibration. Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing improves engine breathing efficiency. The Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPi) version delivers 166ps/6,500rpm while peak torque measures 20.4kg⋅m/4,800rpm. With Gasoline Direct Injection (GDi), maximum horsepower is 177ps/6,500rpm while torque peaks at 21.7kg⋅m/4,700rpm. A diesel option is also available in the form of the new U2 1.7ℓ CRDi which delivers 136ps in the high output edition.

Better driving all around with 6-speed automatic transmission Six gears are better than five – especially if the six-speed is more compact, smoother and quieter than the five-speed it replaces. SAFETY

Electronic Stability Control(ESC)
that maintains control

ESC continuously monitors vehicle directional stability and tyre traction.
If the system senses the car is about to skid and risks spinning out of control,
ESC automatically intervenes, applying the brakes over individual
wheels to prevent loss of directional control.

Stay in lane with Lane Keeping Assist System(LKAS)

Designed primarily to alert drivers who are dozing off at the wheel. Should the vehicle depart the driving lane without signalling in advance, LKAS recognizes and responds either by issuing an audible alert warning to the driver or by actively correcting the steering direction.

9-airbags protection to keep all of you safe

With up to nine airbags available, including each driver and passenger airbags, two side curtain airbags and four thorax airbags at the outboard seating positions plus a new airbag offering driver knee protection, i40 takes every possible precaution to reduce the risk of serious injury.

Knee airbag

Installed just below the steering column, this new airbag is designed to reduce the risk of serious injuries to the driver’s legs and knees in the event of a serious frontal collision.

Hot stamping method

Premium ultra-high tensile strength steel is used in key body areas to maximise strength. But the steel is so hard it must first be pre-heated to 900 ºC before stamping. This Hyundai innovation offers more protection to the driver and passengers in the event of a collision.

Ultra-high tensile strength steel

No ordinary, run-of-the-mill steel, the ultra-high tensile strength steel is a high performance special steel alloy applied to safety-critical areas of the body shell where additional strength reinforcement is required. The benefit is superior crashworthiness.

Steel multi-coned structure and bonnet Inner frame

Applied to the bonnet, this novel structure is highly effective in absorbing impact forces and represents a major advance in reducing the risk of serious head injuries in car collisions.

Brake Assist System (BAS)

Advanced electronics are capable of making near-instantaneous calculations about road conditions, vehicle weight distribution and the correct amount of braking force in order to bring the vehicle to a safe stop within the shortest distance possible.

See more and better with the Adaptive Front Lighting System(AFLS)

i40’s intelligence extends its sophisticated illumination system. The standard static bending light enables the driver to see more when driving through a curve or executing a turn. The optional Adaptive Front Lighting System uses a pivoting mechanism linked to the steering direction. Optional xenon headlamp, comes with an auto-leveling device and lamp washer. The auto-light control turns headlamps on automatically at dusk and off again at dawn.

Audio packages for sonic fun

PA710, the standard audio configuration includes six speakers, an AM/FM radio and CD player with MP3 playback capability. The PA760 upgrade brings a six CD-changer and an external power amplifier with sub-woofer.

Crystal clear supervision instrument cluster

A small marvel of electronic engineering, the supervision gauge cluster brings unprecedented clarity and brilliance to information display, something it manages to do while actually relaxing the eyes and making everything easier to read. Hit the ‘start ignition’ button and, from a black screen, the system springs to life in a glorious spectrum of colours. Supplied as standard equipment along with a monochrome LCD.

Trip computer

Nestled between the twin cylinders, the LCD displays a variety of useful information including driving distance, average fuel consumption, parking assist system, etc. A colour TFT LCD is available as an option.

Steering wheel remote control with all
the switches, right where you want them

For more convenient and safer driving, the remote switches provide
controls over the audio system thereby encouraging the driver to
always keep both hands on the wheel.

Loved by long-distance drivers, the auto cruise controls are conveniently mounted on the steering wheel for quick engagement and disengagement. A gentle tap on the brake pedal will also turn off the system.

Trip computer

Monitors your driving: Red indicates wasting fuel, green if you’re maximizing fuel economy, New trip computer provides much more information that just a simple odometer.

Sonically great premium sound system

The standard audio configuration starts with RDS and six speakers delivering rich, wonderful sound. Upgrade options include, six CD-changer and an Infinity amplifier with sub-woofer.

Full auto air conditioner for two
Driver and front passenger have their own individual temperature controls. System is able to automatically maintain pre-set temperatures for the two zones. (optional)

Heated seats
Front seats feature three-stage heated seat cushions and heated backrests. Rear seat cushion is also heated. (optional)
De-icer
A heating element embedded in the lower windscreen melts away ice and frees up frozen wipers.
