(Seoul, Korea) Hyundai Motor Co.´s combined sales in Korea and overseas hit 191,231 units in February, a decline of 5.8 percent over January. Domestic sales of passenger and commercial vehicles fell 4.1 percent to 43,458 units while overseas sales were down by 6.2 percent over the prior month to 147,773 units.
Domestic Passenger Cars, Minivans, SUVs
Sales of Hyundai passenger cars (excluding minivans and SUVs) in Korea were down 5.9 percent reaching 25,302 units. The new Elantra/Avante continued to rule the sales charts with sales of 9,074 units closely followed by the Sonata at 8,365 units.
Reaching the total of 7,495 units, sales of SUVs and minivans were basically unchanged over the previous month.
Sales of passenger cars, SUVs and minivans combined reached 32,797 units, a drop of 4.6 percent over the earlier month.
Commercial Vehicles
At 10,661 units, deliveries of Hyundai buses and trucks to Korean customers were sluggish and represented a decline of 2.5 percent over the prior month.
Export Sales
Overseas shipments from Hyundai´s three Korean plants reached 78,216 units in February, a decline of 4.2 percent over January. Overseas manufacturing subsidiaries in India, China, Turkey and the United States saw their sales slip by 8.4 percent to 69,557 units. In total, February overseas sales fell by 6.2 percent to 147,773 units.
Total overseas sales reached 156,552 units, down 16.3 percent over December.
