Hyundai Motor Advances Development of Connected Car Operating System
Hyundai Motor is accelerating on the development of its advanced ccOS (connected car Operating System), the core platform technology for future connected cars. The highly-sophisticated software will optimize the highspeed transmission and reception of data within the vehicle to support increasingly complex features that will lead the connected car market.
Installed at the heart of the vehicle, ccOS will control and operate the key aspects of connected car infrastructure; In-Vehicle Framework, Infotainment Framework and Connectivity Framework, to ensure connected cars can adapt to new innovations in safety, comfort, convenience and security. Earlier this year, Hyundai Motor established Infotainment Software Development Team at Namyang Research and Development Center dedicated solely to develop its ccOS technologies.
This enabled the company to drive forward its ‘Car to Life’ vision, to deliver a hub of infinite knowledge that makes the car integral to the daily life of the user. Hyundai Motor’s strategy to develop its own platform optimized for connected car operation is centered on advancing how vehicles communicate with their internal and external environments. Hyundai Motor will also work on other connected car technologies and related services such as smartphone and smart home connected services, intelligent remote support, fully autonomous driving, smart traffic functionality and mobility hubs.
The first ccOS-installed vehicles are set to be available in 2020 under the concept ‘Hyper-connected Intelligent Car.’
Hyundai Motor Company Introduces New Autonomous IONIQ Concept at Automobility Los Angeles
Hyundai Motor announced the introduction of the Autonomous IONIQ concept with a hidden LiDAR system during its press conference at Automobility LA (Los Angeles Auto Show). With a sleek design resembling the rest of the IONIQ lineup, the vehicle is one of the few self-driving cars in development to have a hidden LiDAR system in its front bumper instead of on the roof, enabling it to look like any other car on the road and not a high school science project. The goal of the autonomous IONIQ concept was to keep the self-driving systems as simple as possible. This was accomplished by using the production car’s Smart Cruise Control’s forward-facing radar and Lane Keeping Assist cameras, which are integrated with LiDAR technology. Hyundai is also developing its own autonomous vehicle operating system, with the goal of using a lot less computing power. This will result in a low-cost platform, which can be installed in future Hyundai models the average consumer can afford.
Innovations in assistive technologies allow Hyundai Motor to deliver mobility solutions beyond the automobile.
Hyundai Motor extends commitment to customer care with innovation by revealing ‘Mobility Vision’ concept.

ILSOO HONG working in OVERSEAS ADVERTISING TEAM
Please introduce yourself!
Hello! My name is Ilsoo Hong and I have been a part of the Overseas Advertising team at headquarters for the past 4years. After living abroad most of my life, this was the job that I started with moving back to Korea. I had no particular background nor were my studies focused on marketing, however, with much luck I was able to join the Overseas Advertising team. It was a challenge at first but thanks to my colleagues and superiors I was able to educate myself in this field. I became enthusiastic about the campaigns and projects I participated in, allowing me to find a sense of fulfillment through my work.
What experiences have you had? What were some memorable moments?
The Overseas Advertising team has been a place of opportunities. It opened my eyes to a field that I had no knowledge of or any interest in. It also provided opportunities to be a part of global campaigns and events that I had always enjoyed watching such as the World Cup, Euro, and the Olympic games. By being on set for multiple projects, I was able to get a glance of how production and filming works. I was also able to meet great people on set who were from different countries and backgrounds; people who I would never have met if not the given circumstances. One of my most memorable moments was at the shooting for the Rio Olympics digital campaign. We had to shoot scenes on a boat under difficult weather conditions. It was still an enjoyable memory thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm from everyone who was a part of this project.
What are some plans for the future?
Ironically, I have been assigned to join the Overseas Promotion team as a member of the motor show group. It will be a very different type of work from what I have done the past 4 years. I hope I get to learn as much I was able to at the Overseas Advertising team and I look forward to the new opportunities I will get to experience.
