In 2012, Hyundai Motor Company maintained its growth and development despite an extremely competitive market environment.
In 2013, we will continue to grow through brand innovation based on quality, which will serve as a basis for consolidating our strength internally and securing future competitiveness.
Two years ago, Hyundai Motor Company overhauled the company’s resolve and future direction with the declaration of a new slogan, “New Thinking. New Possibilities.” By spreading and applying the slogan to all parts of the company, we came a step closer in 2012 to our corporate vision of becoming a ‘Lifetime Partner beyond Automobiles.’ 53rd in Interbrand ranking and 4.4 million cars sold worldwide are a couple of the notable examples that prove how close Hyundai has come to realizing its vision, not to mention the completion of the third plant in Beijing and the Brazil plant, which have contributed to reinforcing Hyundai’s global production network and thereby raising its status as a global automaker. The successful launch of the all new Santa Fe—revamped for the first time since its debut seven years ago—amid rave reviews from customers worldwide was another deeply meaningful milestone testifying to Hyundai’s solid brand competitiveness.
In 2013, Hyundai will aim for continued growth and development even when the global economic crisis shows no signs of abating. For this, we will adopt ‘brand innovation based on quality’ as our management principle, strengthen our internal capacity through qualitative growth, and pull together the capabilities of all our executives and employees to ensure future competitiveness. Throughout the years, quality has always been at the very heart of our philosophy of putting customers first.
We will also expand our R&D investment in eco-friendly vehicles and electronic control systems to secure future competitiveness.
In addition, as a global company, Hyundai will proactively adapt to market changes through collaboration and communication not only within the company, but with our diverse partners and suppliers. In the past 10 years, Hyundai has established manufacturing centres in nine major countries worldwide including North America and Europe to become a global company true to its name. This year, Hyundai will implement an organic system of cooperation among our globalised units to achieve our upgraded production goal and respond to the changes in the market even more actively.
In particular, we will solidify the cooperation and communication between our production and sales units as well as among all our partners including our parts suppliers and dealerships.
Furthermore, Hyundai will willingly embrace our responsibilities as a model corporate citizen for the greater good of the nation and the people. In difficult times such as these, we will contribute to the growth of our country and the happiness of the citizens by caring for the less privileged and playing a leading role in promoting joint growth with partner companies. Moreover, as the world is our market, we will also turn our eyes to the underprivileged in other parts of the world to fulfill our duty as a true global corporate citizen. Each and every year, we will pour our heart and effort into not only enhancing our brand value but also becoming a brand worthy of the growing trust and love placed by our customers and providing more people with the opportunity to experience Hyundai’s Modern Premium.
